Studies
We have been offering general education at our eight-year and four-year Grammar School for 29 years, now also with extensive teaching of natural sciences and a special focus on languages. The education, which culminates with the school-leaving examination, takes place only as full-time study according to the School Educational Programme, which has been created following the statutory Framework Educational Programme based on Act No. 561/2004 Coll., as amended, on preschool, primary, secondary, tertiary and other education (the Education Act). As one of few schools, our Grammar School is licensed by the Ministry of Education to teach some subjects in a foreign language, which is also reflected in our students’ school reports. PRIGO collaborates with over 20 foreign schools, from the United Kingdom through France, Germany, Austria, the USA, and China (click here). These aspects help our students initiate their university studies more easily both in the Czech Republic and abroad. Language teaching takes place in a newly built language and computer classroom and also uses the elements of the so-called blended learning – operational online teaching involving e-learning and multimedia resources. We have recently built and opened two new specialised classrooms of natural sciences and started using the American educational and experimental PASCO system, which provides interactive experiments in biology, physics and chemistry. We have also newly opened a botanical garden with a school greenhouse and an outdoor classroom. For the purpose of social sciences education, we also opened a courtroom replica, in which our students can participate in real-like legal proceedings while wearing court dresses and role-playing in a courtroom environment.

General information
Eight-year Grammar School – Grammar School Programme 79-41-K/81
The programme of a general eight-year Grammar School enjoys the advantages of studying at a multi-year Grammar School that focuses on gifted students and their preparation which is more comprehensive, continuous, and long-term than in the case of typical four-year Grammar Schools. Multi-year Grammar Schools also benefit from the synergies and transfer of experience among different age groups of children and students. Eight-year Grammar Schools are usually applied for by more gifted and able pupils of primary schools, who usually stand out among their peers in the class. The admission procedure for talented children is not so stressful as in the case of four-year Grammar Schools because if they fail, they still have an option of applying for six-year or four-year Grammar Schools.

Four-year Grammar School – Grammar School Programme 79-41-K/41
The programme of the general four-year Grammar School focuses on gifted students who have decided to start studying at a Grammar School after completing the compulsory education at the elementary school. These are students who want to have the typical grammar school education but who also want to be specialize in natural sciences.

Specialization
As the only Grammar School in the region, we focus on the extensive teaching of medical, pharmaceutical, and veterinary fields of study as well as on the preparation of our students for the admission procedure at universities specialised in these disciplines. The Grammar School further cooperates with teachers from medical, pharmaceutical, and veterinary faculties, and our students are involved in many projects in this area. Unlike secondary medical schools, we do not prepare our students for a medical profession after they have completed secondary school – we focus on further possible studies at universities specialized in these fields, by guiding and motivating our students through various school and extra-curricular activities. We prepare our graduates who will be specialized in natural sciences with excellent language skills and general social and cultural knowledge, which will enable them to apply for any university after finishing Grammar School. The decision is always up to the students themselves – as they, especially in senior years, select from a wide range of optional subjects to tailor their study specialization to their preferred university choices. We also cooperate with the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ostrava on the project called ‘Become a University Student on Trial’, in which our students go through the university studies at this faculty and all that it entails. The purpose of this project is that our gifted students can try rehearse-studying at a university even at the time of their secondary school studies. We are a faculty school of the Charles University in Prague.
The second specialization is the preparation for studies at natural-scientific and technical faculties, or at faculties of economics, with an emphasis on mathematics, physics, geography, IT, and related disciplines. Our Grammar School cooperates with teachers from the above-mentioned universities, and the students are involved in many projects in this area. All specializations take into account the exclusive teaching of foreign languages – development of language skills and preparation for the school-leaving exam. Despite the specializations mentioned above, the education we provide is following the Framework Educational Programme for Grammar Schools, so our graduates receive universal education, including instruction in humanities and culture, though with excellent skills in languages and natural sciences. Our students have broad general knowledge with excellent results in the school-leaving exam and they become successful in their further studies at prestigious universities in the country and very often abroad.

School and classroom facilities
The school is situated at Mojmírovců St. in a very pleasant neighbourhood of the residential part of Ostrava – Mariánské Hory, close to 28. října St., with very good transportation accessibility both by car and tram (lines 4, 8, and 9). The Prostorná tram stop is less than 200 m away. Vast school grounds for students’ extracurricular activities make part of the school’s premises. The school’s interior is modernly equipped and mostly newly reconstructed. The classrooms are furnished with new or fairly new chairs and desks with inbuilt computers, and the classrooms also include multimedia equipment with overhead projectors. Interactive boards and specialised laboratories, such as for teaching chemistry, biology, or languages, are commonplace. We also have our own gym on our school premises, which is also very well equipped. We have completed a language and computer classroom, a new classroom-courtroom, two new science classrooms, a botanical garden with a school greenhouse, and an outdoor classroom. Our students can also spend their leisure time playing at two table-football tables, a table tennis table, and now also outdoor skittles. Tuition fee and scholarship
Tuition fee
We are a private secondary school for highly motivated and capable students interested in studying at a general grammar school with a focus on medical and science. To ensure accessibility of education and as part of the PRIGO group, all students without serious disciplinary infractions who begin their studies in the 2025/2026 school year will have their tuition covered by the scholarship fund, as per the decision of the school director. Tuition-free education is guaranteed for the entire duration of their studies. The standard tuition fee would otherwise amount to 9,900 CZK per month.
The PRIGO Strategic Council has also confirmed zero tuition fees for the International Baccalaureate (IB) program for all students from PRIGO secondary schools. This program serves as a gateway to prestigious universities worldwide.
Scholarship
The PRIGO Strategic Board also confirmed the program of social scholarships for talented students, as well as the merit and scientific scholarship program for all students at grammar schools and high schools from the PRIGO group. More information is available in the study department.
